4. Divergency or
long windedness
not chargeable
upon me
Anxious to discover if not a justification
some sort of apology, at least, howsoever inadequate
for a conduct otherwise so inexplicable inexcusable, Your
Lordship's candour (not to speak of sympathies or
attachments of which I can or prepossession such
as it has been my misfortune to experience [|] and supposed
prudential reserves
on the part of Mr Addington) will naturally incline
your Lordship, as it would any man to suppose, that in default
of any thing offensive through ill humour, there
must have been something repulsive or overloading
in the address and conversation of the
unfortunate individual, by whose approach
such unceasing horror had been inspired.
My Lord I can take upon me to say that
there never was yet upon earth an individual
the cast of whose conversation was more prefe
compleatly exclusive of any such topic of excuse.
Postpone all
off to the next
section?
Impressed and oppressed with the
assurance constantly experienced impossibility of obtaining
any thing taken the quantum of time indispensably
necessary for the most indispensable
explanations, was it in the nature of things
that any man in my situation should have
wasted any of the few in verbiage and hors
d'oeuvres any of the few particles moments of disputed
time intercourse which he might succeed in getting
possession of by fraud or force?
