Observations on A.11. p.14

No such comfort was in store for me. The season
for action – the spring and summer passed away.
One first more year of respite was thus gained to Mr Long.
The conveyance was not put into my hands will
the month 15th of Novr following, nor was this without
a struggle, on the part of Mr White as our Lordship will see, to keep it from
me: a struggle, maintained by Mr White, who
had or had not his reasons for it.

The accommodation to Ld Salisbury, whether
the only real motive or no, not being an ostensible one,
Mr Ron, by a motion made – but made so
late as 25 June 1799, obtained a Vote of £36000
payable to me on pretence of applying it the money part to the purchase of
the land part towards the erection of the Building – which
vote was on the of 1799 by a clause in the general appropriation
Act 34 G 3. c. converted into a Law
of this £36,000 in which I myself, by name
and I only am mentioned as the person to into
whose hands the money was to be paid.

The dates borne by the Lease and Release which constitutethe conveyance from Ld Salisbury to me are
12 the 11th & 12 Oct, 1779: the date borne by the conveyance
instrument executed by the Lords of the Treasury in which I am
under the Act‡ ‡ 34 G. 3. c. 84 I am appointed Feoffee for the purpose
of accepting such conveyance is 10th Octr 1779.
It was on the 15th of the next month (November 1799)
and not before that the conveyance was put into
my hands. I attended at Mr White's chambers
in Lincolns Inn, in consequence given me
for the part of Mr Estcourt for that purpose:
present nobody but myself & Mr White.
