9 Jany. 1802
After proving to your Lordship that it was
not in their power to make me any compensation
– that they knew it was not in their
power – that from this consideration proof where
it would have followed, in default of so many
others that it could never have been in
their intention, it is injury adding very little to
say add that they did not so much as pretend
to say it was. What they addressed themselves
to me for was to ask me for my
Bill: what they meant to do with any Bill
when they had got it, any what the
me a question they left me to answer for
myself, judging from what they had done by
all my so many former Bills, as they had bespoke ordered
from me.
I had told them that whatever it might
have been it never would be any more
any part of their intentions in regard to, in
their meaning – their serious and
meaning – to give me a single penny in
the name of compensation. I had already told them
so in print, and it was in print: and as
your Lordship sees, they knew better than no more had ever the face
to contradict me. the assurance.
