Dispensing power
and this over and above the whatever difficulties
might have been opposed by the matchless absurdity inconspicuous so glaring a mass of absurdities
of the Gaol system as that in which his Grace's Gaol system
according to the view Your Lordship has already had of
it, has involved.
Another An additional difficulty – had there been
any thing to say in support of the measure – what
should have been the mouth to say it? Mr Neither
Mr King nor Mr Baldwin could have done any
thing pure. It is as perfectly known to Your Lordship
Lordship's situation, ex as it is unknown to myself me in mine whether it be was by
accident or design – and if by design for what reason
that in when the Duke of Portland held the seals, the Secretary
of State for the House department neither was
himself a Representative nor had a Representative
an official one at least of his own in the most efficient though least
dignified of the Ho two Houses. Such at any
rate was the fact: and although both the learned
Gentlemen had been in Parliament (as one of them
used to be every now then though which of them
may be more than any body in Parliament remembers
or ever knew) although his Grace had thus
been doubly represented – it seems altogether questionable
whether the united genius's of John Doe
and Richard Roe would have been able to inspire
either of them with any tolerably colourable answer to the strange
interrogatories above mentioned.
