As to the cause of the irregularity I had my speculations
on the subject at the time: but to prevent misconception, it would
be injustice an error to me on my part not to add, that there was nothing in being merely personal with
those with which the Board can have any concern, there regard to myself, it would be improper for me to attempt troubling the
Board with them, had I any such desire, which I have not; there
being not the smallest doubt in my own opinion of but
that the whole sum viz £12,000 was actually received by the
said Marquis or to the use of the said Marq noble Vendor: of the land: to
which I will beg here further to add, that no injurious misconception least any
should so result lest from what it seemed necessary for
me to say as above, any other injurious miscon suspicion should
arise, that it does not appear to me that the price so
paid was in any degree above beyond the value. of the land.
