5 Introduction

A question that will have been apt to present itself
is — how it happens that the Account in question the
whole the judicatory, before which my the Account in question is
depending, has its seat at an Office in the Adelphi
the communication here made is addressed to Somerset
Place
?

In answer to To this question I have two reasons to submitt two answers
for this change.

1. One is — that in addressing directing the Letter to Somerset
Place I addressed it to a place where it might
expect to meet the eye of two gentlemen in particular,
of for whose aptitude for the consideration of the points
which I ventured to submitt I had the evidence it had has happened to me to receive the fullest assurance
from the
public voice: [recorded
in one
instance by more
particular proof]

of the public voice: which in the case of the Commissioners,
if such there be, whose seat is at the Adelphi,
the personality, not being discoverable by the Court Calendar,
is in my obscure situation so compleatly unknown to me, that and at the
same time their existence to such a degree dubious,
that on the occasion of the sort of notice taken of a Letter
of mine in which, on [on the subject of] on certain points
therein mentioned, compliments were made in relation
to a gentleman whose name under in the character
of Chief Inspector was and is visible to me, it was became and still
remains matter of doubt, to me whether, in virtue
of some established routine official course unknown to me, it had
not happened, that the compliment had received in effect its
answer, from the person who was the object of it, no other
minds than his having been actually applied to it.
