2. Article 3 Query 4

1II Charge. 2. Having for its Subject of it of it Mr Chief Inspector's paragraph
shled Query No 4: having for its subject referred to <add> grounded in </add> the
thereon Item 3 in the Account an item that described which in his description of the Voucher clause described in these terms, viz. "Paid Messrs Campbell
"and White, Timber Merchants, at Millbank for Wharfage

Query (No 4) thereupon in terminus "The Accountant is
required to produce the Receipt for this payment.

relation to his
in his Account
information prayed.

In a declaration subjoined by the Accountant to this
Article. in a statement is made in these words "The receipt
not forthcoming: but, for after stating that a paper
sent in "for circumstantial evidence, and "to prove the
"delivery of the Iron" (in question) "from the found papers
noting "Receiving a demand for a greater sum, or the
"same sum as herewith (as were therewith) sent, " it states
states in distinct terms that "a fresh acknowledgment of
"the receipt of the sum actually paid (£50) could
"doubtless be obtained". A reason is then given why of his
own motion the Accountant had not as yet made application
to the persons in question for the fresh acknowledgment
as evidenced by him to the Board: viz. his
"unwillingness to give to third persons any that
"might eventually be unnecessary."

This then in the part of the Accountant was an application, having for its manifest
object the being informed whether it by were in the judgment
of by the Board such "fresh acknowledgment" would be received
as sufficient evidence of the payment, and whether accordingly
it were the pleasure of the Board that such fresh
acknowledgment should be applied for, and if obtained, sent
in to the Board to be added to the other Vouchers evidence.
