7. Charge the 7th. Subject of it, the fourth and last of the four
4. Fourthly and lastly as to Requisition the 4th and last
requisitions contained in Mr Chief Inspector's first Query. For Requisition 4.
in correspondence

distinction it has been here marked [4]

Following unavoidably upon the words of the requisition
last mentioned, it is exercised in these terms

And " and to transmitt to this office the originals
"or authenticated copies of any letters or communication
"he may have received from the Treasury on the subject"

The boundless latitude
[and thus vexatious
nature of this requisition

Then there is a requisition which, in respect of
the unlimited unbounded latitude of the terms employed in it,
might and naturally be, and in fact was such is understood by the
person to whom it is made viz. the Accountant,
and appears to have been by said Mr Chief Inspector
designed to be understood, as comprizing the which
of the correspondence and intercourse ( "communication
not only in the form of "letters" but in whatsoever other
form) that has taken "on the subject." . . viz. "of the said
"intended Penitentiary establishment" ... has ever taken place.
viz. down to the date of this paper of Requisitions viz. the
10th of March 1808.10 March 1808

By the question he (it may be observed) which he has recei is thus called upon to state or not
that whether, at such a time, he had received, but
"whether he has (i.e. reckoning down to the then present the time ) had )
"received any assurances. - [+] [+] By the other requisitions he is called upon "to transmit - not
"such letters or communication" as per antecedently
to the disbursement expenditure of the said money he may
have received; (such letters or communication being of a nature to express the intention of
the Lords Commissioners relative to the carrying the plan into
execution) - but - "any letters or communication he
"may have received" at any time (which is as much as to
say all the letters or communication he has received) from the Treasury, on the subject.
the subject just then last , and designated by the words "the original plan of erecting penitentiary Houses."
