[Protesting as before that After my protestation made as above Government not did not acquire, nor by
the conception of any one officer of government that ever
had any concern in the business was in his conception
ever spoken of, nor to my belief considered, as having
by the said £2,000 or by any other means acquired a
any lien on either on the cast iron in question or
any one article manufactured or provided by me in the course of the Kings Warrant
p.66

above, to state the disposal made by me of the
cast iron in question.

I sold off the whole of stock of the said cast iron, or
whatsoever part could be found of it, to different persons
for the best price I could get for it: consequently "where
it is" at present I neither know nor care. am unable to state
A number of reasons concurred in determining me
to take this step.
1. The iron I saw not before me any speedy or determinate
prospect of being ever able to apply it the Iron to its
originally intended purpose: and in this uncertainty
I continue at present July 1808.
2. At the spot on which it was deposited its continuance
was a source of continual constant expense: and
I saw no before me no other means of less putting a stop to
or lessening that expense.
£20 a year was the sum I found expected and
asked for the liberty of containing it where it was: this for
the four years that it there continued there already made
£80. Had it continued there till the present time, viz. ten
years more, the expense would have been £280. [+]
