it.

Yes: and were it not for the Board — the Board
which however invisible to other eyes he sees above
them, the responsibility thus constituted might perhaps
answer the purpose.

But as it is, it is pure illusion. Here Indeed
we have see an individual, but an individual who can do
no wrong, his acts being the acts of the Board: if
the invisible and thence irresponsible and virtually impeccable Board.
Antecedently or subsequently, whatsoever it happens to him the visible person
to do, remains of course the sanction of the invisible Board. Left
to himself, being visible would be vulnerable: but above him
str sits a his next of kin, his protecting divinity and he is invisible she is wrapt in
shreds.
