III. Accountants to be subjected to personal examination
at the outset, whenever the occasion, or the Accountant
calls for it.

On the occasion of a judicial enquiry, providing <add>considered</add> taken
at large, personal examination of the party taken viva voce
in contra distinction to interrogation in the epistolary mode on the nature of the Account in question
may pursue either of his objects: viz. the so much the man
effectually at the justice of the case, or viz. by means of
extempore questions having not of the ex tempore answers, as
well as an ex tempore answer returned immediately to
ex tempore questions, putting on stress to irrelevant
as well as otherwise mindless inquiries, besides
giving the in many instances according to the nature
of the case the speediest conclusion to relevant and
needful ones and thus saving collateral inconvenience
in the shape of vexation and
