- he recd of S.B. a Salary of 160£ p ann, & a

has seen yr Convicts at working. frequently
- they do as much work as fee laborers - thinks
their labor quite as valuable as fee laborer - if
he had a plan to keep them he wod be glad to
take & maintain convicts for yr of their
labor witht recg any thing for Government. - he wod
have employed them in Smiths work that he
doubt but he co'd have done all yr foundry work
abt London & in this way might have employed
Some hundreds - might have caused for 12d to
20s p week 20 yrs age & for 20s to 30s. Now
Coachmakers applied for leave to mke yr
Machinery for Wheels but were refused by
Genl Bentham - better that all yr Wheels
have been made best & cheaper & that
the one place he have had all the London supply.
