Of that same Committee other Members in any
number may have been spectators of those same works without
any recollection or knowledge. For the purpose of being
out of the way of these and other interruptions, I used in those days
to pass a Great part perhaps, the greatest part of my time in studious solitude,
at a country lodging; and during such my absences
it was by my Brother that whatever was to be seen
was shewn. Sir Samuel Romilly, may though not then a member of the House may on
this same occasion be also mentioned: because, though
not then a Member of the House
by reason of his our intimacy
with him it would naturally be in his way to
see more of the works than was his view the works
much more frequently than they were could have been
