The reason of my fixing upon this third branch of damage for
the sole basis of my claim, be the was to the provisional dereliction of the two
others, or at any rate of the second, is the advantage
such as it is, of obtaining being able, from actual experience,
to get obtain some sort of evidence, inadequate as it is,
instead of being obliged reduced to rest it the estimate altogether upon so
unfavourable and unpromising a ground as that of mere
conjecture hope and anticipation of the future possible [+] [+] I say inadequate:
for the main ground
of expectation, resting
on them the above
mentioned inventions
inventions unknown
and unpracticed every
where else, all the
experience thus derivable
from any other source
is confined to the
ratio between the
profit from labour
employed without
that advantage, and
the expence of the prison
establishment, maintenance
of prisoners
included, in which
that labour has been employed.

For this purpose, the first thing to be done will be —
to find a multiplier for the years profit, whatever
it may become come to be set at, a multiplier: a multiplier, expressive
of the number of the years during which
had the contract been fulfilled by Government, the profit would
have been reaped: viz. by myself, and after my death
by my Brother, as above

This will be a fixt number, applicable, in the character
of a multiplier, to whatsoever rate whichsoever of several
adapted to the case rates of profit may be deemed most reasonable — best most analogous to the case in question point

To this purpose will be to be the following are the
dates, partly real actual partly, hypothetical, that will require
to be taken in a into view, are the following —
