On my part In my instance part of my extra expenses were produced
by a cause which will serve help to convey a correct
idea of the nature of the rest and thereby to exculpate clear
him of any such imputation as that of extravagance.

The farm house which for so many years was
my only residence has been already mentioned. Study
in some shape or other having at all times been my
most phremable occupation, and as b morning visits
as being in my experience own instance found incompatible with it study my
aversion, so it was that not long after the my having
commenced housekeeping upon the death of my father Ao 1792
as above, at the time visits being at the time in full
activity. I resumed my country lodging, at Hendon, to which I
gave from thence forward I gave the name of my absconding
place. Being there, and there only, free
from inter ruption, it was there and that I commonly
perused the abundant Letters and Memorials which
my unfortunate with Administration were
continually calling for. Fourteen shillings a week for the lodging was
the utmost addition amount of the gross thus made to the my expenditure. But
in the 7 seven shillings a week which served me
for diet at Hendon my farm house country lodging could hardly have
done so at my town residence, not much surely
can remain to be added to the account of extra expenditure
on that score
