Panopt. Compensation Claim III Contract

are in so great a degree exposed, in particular, to the failures
that took place in which is such abundance took
place in relation to the first tried modes; for, numerous as ample as was
the list of the successes were, still more so was that of untendered
failures. The work-shops the workmen — the works, every
thing was exposed at all times open to my view. But every
now and then when I by way of comparat conversation
I was putting questions to my Brother about progress, and
success and expenditure and so forth the answer would
be — what signifies you plaguing yourself and me? By
interference of this sort it may be possible for you to do
mischief — it is not possible for you to do good.

Though conversations to this effect did happen more
than once, I can not say that they were by an means
frequent. For no sooner did I understand was I fully satisfied that explanations propositions
of the sort were alien to my Brother, than I
determined — and that without difficulty upon presumption to put an end desist from them
to them. In an ordinary concern connection such as that
between two partners unconnected by the tie of blood any
such acquiescence as that of mine might well have been
taxed with iness. But in this present such an instance as the
present, the iness would have been in taking the contrary
course. My money was then at least my own. I was
to nobody was I accountable for the expenditure of it.
little did I think expect little reason had I for thinking expecting, ever
to become so, an account of this cost what purpose could
it serve? To prevent my Brother's cheating me? it would not
have been in his power to cheat me had it been his wish: for
the same reason that it is not in the any mans power to rob you
of any thing which it is your known wish that he should take.
