Why then not insert the calculation? I answer —
for these reasons this reason.
1. I have not yet been able with sufficient assurance,
been able to determine the vi for the point of time in question
viz. the year 1793 I have not been able with sufficient assurance, to determine the ordinary pay of ordinary labour.
I had supposed it not less than 2s 6d I do should not now
suppo expect to find it less than much less if any
thing less than 2s: the Evidence that which if it was though worth while might be obtained
would shew: and thus it is that the correction
if all things taken into account it were thought
that any ought to be made might be made. For this
purpose the gentlemen who on the other side appear
on the part of government would of course not be backward
to lend this aid. The adjustment might then
be made definitively, which were it at present viz.
on this side only it can not. In the mean time
for the present purpose, certum est quod certum reddi
potest.
2. Should the number of years taken as above
for a multiplier be taken for a subject of dispute, here
then wa by that circumstance when a demand recipe
would be produced for a fresh calculation: another
reason why it would be as have been less labour to insert in
the sort of calculation in question at this time and
in this place.
