Sect. XIII intitled Prisoner's Settlements. +

1. No Settlement to be gained by service &c in the Metasylum.

2. Maintenance of the Prisoners themselves, sick or well
undertaken charged upon me the Governor for the remainder of their
lives.

3. So, that of their Families, existing and future, as far
as to the amount of any stoppages that can be made
for that purpose out of their wages.

3 4. For any If any supplemental provision should be
necessary, such provision to be made by each man's
Parish, and remitted to the Metasylum. N.B. As it is
the Law stands at present, a Parish " can not be charged
for the relieving of a Pauper in their in the
Parish eyes

5. A Metasylum man's family not to be removable from
the Metasylum: thence but to be removable thither (at his
instance own request) if they can't get there otherwise.

5 6. Examin General Examination of the Prisoners at
the Penitentiary House, to form a ground for the adjudication of their Settlements for this purpose. [+] [+] Provision for this
purpose is made in
the Friendly Society
Act, as likewise in
the Acts allowing
discharged Soldiers &c
to exercise any trades
any where.
Powers Provisions
for collecting further evidence if where necessary by examination
taken in distant Counties. For the reasons see the
Preamble.

67. Provision for The correspondence of Correspondence with
Parishes and Examining Magistrates for this and other
purposes to be carried on in a particular way through
the medium of the Post, to save me the expence of employing
Agents to serve notices and so forth &c all over
the Kingdom.

78. Provisions for saving proceedings in this case from being
quashed or made to stand over by reason of accident,
negligence of Agents or non-observance of formalities.

☞ These antidotes to chicane are, with a few additions, the
same as those which in the case of bona fides are sett are actually in use in the practice of
side the
