Panopticon Bill II Contract

Enacting
Clause
For the accomplishment of the said good purposes,
May it therefore please your Majesty,
that it be enacted, and by the King's Majesty
with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual
and Temporal and Commons in Parliament
assembled be it enacted as follows,
viz:

Power to the
Lords of the
Treasury empowered
to
treat for the
institution of a
Panopticon
Establishment
Art. 1. The Lords Commissioners of the Treasury
or any two of them may at any time or times enter into a Contract
or Contracts with the said Jeremy Bentham or with the
said Samuel Bentham or their his Representatives
[possession of the Letters Patent herein after
spoken of or the persons hereby empowered to
obtain the same] for the keeping, maintaining
and employing setting on foot and carrying
on for any term or terms a Penitentiary
Establishment for the keeping maintaining and
employing any number of Prisoners in a
building constructed on the principle of the principle herein
above mentioned. said Panopticon as described in or to be described
in the specifications made or to be made in pursuit
of a Letters Patent.
