Friendly Guardian
Examination
persons who from bad conduct have been induced to
assume false names or to shift from place to place:
partly in order that in case of death, the status
of their families and connections being known, the
Governor, on his part and the Ward on his may know to
whom to apply resort in consequence. Here accordingly
cause from the Examinant to give the names of the the children he
hath had, if any, with their the ages of such of them as are alive,
and the occupations and abodes of such them as are
old enough have any distinct occupation or abode:⊠ ⊠ as also if he hath no chldren to name some one or more of his next of kin, with their respective directions, as below.
If it be a woman, cause her to declare whether
she be a rough woman now having been married,
or is a Widow: if a widow then cause her to
make like declaration with regard to her several husbands, as
above. N.B. A married woman can not be a
Friendly Guarding, for want of power to bind
herself.
