Sect. X. intitled Escapes.
Art. 1. For escape from the said Penitentiary
House and for offering a tendency thereto, the
punishments shall be as follows: viz:
For escaping, attempting to escape, or making
any preparation in the view of escaping from
or during conveyance to or from the Penitentiary
House or any other place in which Prisoners
so shall or may be kept by the authority of
the said Governor, Confinement in the Penitentiary
House for one year and also for a in addition
to a further term equal to what remained of
the Prisoner's term at the time of the offence.⊞ ⊞ For attempting to escape, half such compound term: for making preparation in the view of escaping, a quarter thereof: and if with force, twice as much as if without force: and every such offence shall be deemed felony under the reservation hereinafter mentioned.
Art. 2. For being intentionally instrumental in
the unlawful liberation without fear of any
Penitentia Prisoner during his or her term,
having such liberation to be unlawful felony and
confinement in the said House confinement
for one year in addition to a term equal
to that what remained of the term Prisoners
term at the time of the offence: for attempting being
or being concerned, along with any other in attempting such liberation, half such compound term: for
conspiring, or concerned as aforesaid in making preparation to effect such
unlawful liberation, a quarter thereof: if with
force twice as long as if without force: the punishment
to be moreover to be multiplied according
to the number of the Prisoners so liberated as intended to be liberated: and
