firstly without supposing some Postulates
to be general, and without tracing the terms
to simple Ideas so as that one may be
sure of the every ones having the same, but
that is not my business here to show how
to do that, were I able.
In some such case as this it is that
Geometry serves but to exemplify the just
mode of reasoning, and in some such
case as this it should be made to
appear so.
So many few indeed would it answer to spend so much
time in learning this science as is necessary by
if it is by Simpons Book they are to learn it.
So much pain would be but ill bestowed,
but this obscurity is more the fault of the Author
than of the science itself. This to be sure
is a dry one that is to say one does not perceive
the occasion we may have to apply each point of
knowledge one acquires at the time of acquiring it.
