to any other Individual Figures that may present
themselves. A doubt that may here occur is
how any Individual Figures should have been produced
but by this Sign, how if any Individual Figure
should have been produced by Art without the Ideas of
them being previously in the Mind, and how the Ideas of
any Figures could have come into the mind without
their Architypes being in Nature.
If a Figure be made by design the Patern of it
it will be said while making must have been
in the mind, but how should it have got there
unless it were innate in the mind, or if taken
from an Architype that Architype were somewhere
to be seen in Nature, now it is certain that
some Figures there are produced by design the
Architypes of which are not to be found any where
in Nature and from on this Observation it should
seem it is that a few Philosophers have noted
this attachment to the old exploded doctrine of
innate Ideas laid in disproved ruins by Locke, the
answer is that man in many of his Actions
that is in many of the Motions produced by him is
but as it were an Instrument in the hand of Nature
many of these Motions and consequently the Figures
resulting from them have been produced by him
