Euclid's
Definitions
(Stone's Euclid)
Definition 9th. In relation to lines which
are right lines it is not usual to
state that they are right lines but
it wd be better so to do in contradistinction
to those other angles which are
not right lines — so also as to its being
an angle of a superfices & not of a
solid such as the sphere
For the exposition of the other sorts
of angles see what is said of the circle
& the sphere respectively.

13. Points are the terms of lines
— lines the terms of surfaces &
superfices to the terms of solids
— Extremes & boundaries are
synonyms to terms.
14. Note figure is an appellation
applied in common to designate a
figure a line, a surface or a solid.
15. On the mode of forming a
circle see prop. 1st "how to describe
an equilateral triangle." This mode
is what is called the synthetic mode
in contradistinction to what are call the analytic which latter
is formed by making the section of a solid — videlicit — a cylinder or a cone

& refer to preposition
having for its object the
