Introduction
Alego- & Morphoscopics
§.2. Diffusion maximized — how

3

10
Now comes Antagonization:
between maximum of
the quantity of the ideas
communicated, and
minimization of the
quantity of discourse
employed in the
communication of them

10 But here comes antagonization: antagonization, between
minimizat maximization of the quantity of discourse employed in
the the ordinary and unscientific shape, and abbreviation,
which it its maximum is the same thing as minimization of the absolute quantity
of discourse employed

11
Abbreviation — its
powerfulness as an
instrument employed
in the formation of Alegomorphics:
all that
has been done in it being
done in it will be
seen to have been
done by a series
of successive abbreviations

12
On the other hand,
the diffusion has
been retarded by
the obscuration and
appalling appearance
of many
of the instruments of
the employed abbreviation

11 Elucidation

11 When [application ] of the practice of abbreviation
application comes to be made to Alegomorphics it will
be seen how mighty the power of it is in the quality of
an instrument or say a medium of effectuation as applied to the matter of that
science: it will be seen that, with or without exception, what
so ever in and by means of that branch of Posology has been
done it is by abbreviation that it has been done: it is by
abbreviation of the scientific in contradistinction to the unscientific
species of discourse that the whole matter of the scientific
species has been formed, and step after step advancement given
to it: while on the other hand it is also by abbreviation, that
the diffusion of it has has from the very
first been retarded, and to in a greater or less degree will continue
so to be, with whatever degree of labor and success the degree
of this retardation have shall have been endeavoured to be lessened: such
has been the appalling and repulsive spectacle of the instruments employed
in effecting the abbreviation, and such will unavoidably be
the appalling and repulsive quality and efficiency of whatsoever instruments the nature
of things allows to be applied to this same purpose.

13
These instruments are
1. the numerical figures
signs of the words of
which ordinary discourse
is composed
2. the letters of the
alphabet and other
marks such as crosses
&c, signs of those
signs.

See as to this title
under the head of
Alegomorphics.

These instruments of abbreviation are — 1. in the first place,
the numerical figures empl which instead of words at length, are
employed in ordinary arithmetic. 2. in the second and are
signs of those signs. 2. letters of the alphabet which are employed in
algebra, and are signs of those same signs of signs. But
of this more particularly in §. 3 under the head of Diffusion or Effectuation of Alegomorphics
or Effectuation of Alegomorphics or Alegomorphic its
nature explained.

☞ For more as to repulsiveness see the former pages.
