§ Means of Diffusion

19 or 5
Use or no use, (say,
a common notion) there
is merit in the overcoming
difficulties:
say rather, folly.

A notion not uncommon is — that of these , a
merit in the overcoming of difficulties, whether there be or
be not any use at the bottom of them: whereas, so long as
there are as many difficulties what have use, at the bottom
of them, it is folly not wisdom or merit, to at any
of those at the bottom of what there is not any use.
