Posology
Morphoscopic

Posology 15
7.
Per Bolingbrokes says a
man must mount
on Metaphysics &
History to survey
Government & politics —
per J. B. this applicable
to every branch of
art & science.
Speaking of Government or politics — no matter
which for the difference is not material, Bolingbroke
goes on to speak of the vantage ground as being occupied
in joint tenantcy by Metaphysics and History on which
ground he says a man must mount ere he can with
advantage make a survey of those inferior regions that
which Bolingbroke thus says of Governm Metaphysics and
History as applied to Government or Politics he might have
said of the same commanding branches of art and science
as being applicable with similar advantage to most other
or if not all of the several branches of art and science.

It might have been
said of Posology —
especially Morphoscopic.
Be this as it may the like he might have said of
them as applied to Posology and now that we are upon
Posology upon the Morphoscopic branch or form regarding
branch in particular this is that which still goes by the
name of Geometry as if it consisted in neither more
nor less than taking the measurement of the earth that
planet on which we live and move and have our being
whereas it is not less occupied with the forms of things
which in lawyer language are stiled moveables than in
this expeditious traveller receptacle & vehicles which in the lawyers language is
termed immoveable and which it must be confessed for
most practical purposes it is no less necessary than
customary to consider and speak of as being such

Bolingbroke meant
by metaphysics logic —
metaphysics obscure
and uncharacteristic.
Note that by Metaphysics what Bolingbroke means
is not uncommonly and more aptly termed logic.
Metaphysics has not only at all times been obscure
and uncharacteristic meaning no more than what
comes after Physics what of late years has been
invested with a dis-logistic sense: repelling those who
are fond of orthodoxy by the fear of heterodoxy and
those who can stomach nothing but what is amusing
by the fear of something dry and nauseous repulsive requiring for
the digesting of it more attention than their minds
are able or willing to bestow
