Of the several contrivances by means of which the several
discoveries, if such they may be called, by which the stock
of knowledge of which the field of posology is the soil and
subject matter have been effected, could a compleat list
be formed and determined, we should thus have a sort
of map expressive of the course road whole track as yet taken by first to last
Inventive Genius in the course of its travels over this
same field. Those lights will have been drawn forth
which in some instances for want of a perception of the
usefulness and importance of the disclosure, in some instances
perhaps by design, have by those who struck them out respectively
been hitherto kept under the bushel. And in
this may be seen a task which the accomplishment of which would surely would not be unworthy
of the ability talents nor unproductive of advantages to the
reputation and professional interest of the any the most accomplished teacher
which when in this or any country the field of posology is in can boast of possession of.

of indecision, and in proportion to success, of triumph — to
play the part of Paul Pry in the field of Nature, and detect
him in the practice of his most secret operations.

his offspring Art.

Archetype of a circle, the head of a barrel
Archetype of a radius, the spoke of a wheel
Archetype of the center of a circle, the axis of a wheel.
Note, that a wheel exclusive of the spokes is but
a ring: and this is the figure which in books of
Geometry is called a Circle: by which misappellation,
confusion of ideas is produced.
