Conceive now the circular plate, taken with the
mould in which it was buried, taken out of the
vessel which contained the mould: then conceive
the plate taken out of the mould as it may be
by cutting the mould into two equal parts and
lifting up one of them: the plate being taken out,
and the two parts of the mould placed together
as they were before, the space they enclose will
be a spherical space. Making a small hole
towards the top of the mould through the substance
of the mould into the spherical space, pour
into it any substan in such quantity as to fill
the mould, any liquid substance that, when
poured into the mould, will become solid.
Here, then, within the hollow sphere we have a
solid sphere having the same centre as the plate
had when in the mould.

☞ Go on with the spheroids.
