Ch. §. 3 Subjects of Posology or Mathematics

Question 1. How many and what things are the
subjects of Posology?

Answer. They are of three sorts — Bodies, Spaces,
and Motion Motions and occurrences: occurrences are either 1 states of things, or 2 Motions
3. When considered with reference to this or that particular object or motion or aggregate of motions and
states of things is called
an Event

Question 2. What is meant by a body?

Answer. Any thing that we feel or can feel.
Our own bodies, our very selves, included.

Question 3. What is meant by a space?

Answer. Any place, that a body is in, or can be
made to go into, as it exists, when no body is in it: or as it
is considered when no body is considered as being in it.

Question 4. What is meant by a motion?

Answer.

Question 5. In speaking of bodies, spaces, or motions,
what circumstance or circumstances are considered
in the teaching of posology?

Answer. One circumstance only; namely the quantity.

Question 6. How many and what are the sorts
into which quantity requires to be distinguished and divided?

Answer. Two: namely figure and number.

Question 7. What is the name of that branch
of posology in and by which its subjects are considered
with relation reference to figure as well as number.

Answer. Morphoscopic posology: called also
morphoscopics and Geometry.

Question 8. What is the name of that branch
of posology in and by which its subjects are considered
with relation to number only?

Answer: Aligomorphic posology: called
also aligomorphics and Arithmetic.
