Equality — what —
— absence of greaterness

one

Greaterness, lesserness, equality.

The idea of equality is a negative one. Equality is the
absence of both greaterness and lesserness.
The source, groundwork, and standard of the idea
of equality is identity. Every thing so long as it remains
unchanged in magnitude is equal to itself.

When a circle is described by a line fixed at one
point, all the lines from the centre to the circumference
of that circle are equal to one another. Why?
Because they are that same line passing successively
into those several positions.

2
Source of the idea of
equality, ideality.
Every thing is at all
times equal to itself

3
Example the case of
a circle. drawn by
one and the same
radius. fixt at one

the point at which it
started.
