Ch. or § Conjectural History

1

☞ Go next to Architecture, as applied to habitations and bridges,
and other erections.

Ch.
Conjectural history of Arithmetic and Geometry

1.
Objects of sense most easily
grasped by the mind —
Conjectural history.

Objects which present themselves
to the senses are more likely to be the first
to be taken in hand by the mind than
such as cannot be come at but
through a train of reasoning. Hence
it is that matters belonging to those
branches of art & science which
are constituted by application
made of unapplied quantity-learning
to the several branches of applied
do seem likely to have been
taken into consideration
antecedently to any part of the
matter of unapplied quantity
learning. According to this Assertion
Take land measuring for instance,
which is the very branch of art
& science from which Geometry
takes its name. The sources
of this branch of art & science were
the same as those of the Nile.

History
Conjectural History.
It may be delivered, in
this case as in that
of language of which
it is little not usual more than
a modification, by
observation of the customs
in this respect as between
nation and nation at
different stages of civilization.

Posological ideas
are, all of them, derived
from physical or say
sensible ones.
