Posology

Ch. 1. Posology in general
§. 4 Posology branches of
6
Quintuplex

1

☞ Take atoms in any number. To the use you propose
to make of them, is or is not the direction, in which they lie, material?
If yes, the case belongs to morphoscopics: if not, to alegomorphics.

1.
§ IV. Branches of Posology

Sec. IIII. Posology or say Mathematics
its branches.

2.
So many subject matters
or modifications of one
all comprehensive matter
so many branches — subject
matters real & even
fictitious entities. In
regard to real entities
1. Quantity, form-disregarding
2. Quantity, form-regarding
3. Motion.

1 So many distinguishable subject matters or
say so many modifications of the one all comprehensive
matter so many branches there may
be said to be of this art and science subject
matters of it not only real entities of all sorts
meaning by real entities portions of matter or
say substances but in some sort even fictitious
entities. Quantity In regard to real entitiies
1 Quantity without regard to form
2 Quantity with regard to form
3 Motion.

3.
Here a fictitious entity

2. And in this we have already got hold of a
fictitious entity.

4.
Ancient logicians
distinguished matter into
continuous & uncontinuous:
every mass has form: beyond 1
there must be masses of more
or less distant in number
more than 1; arithmetic
the denomination of what
belongs to number.

3. By the ancient logicians quantity was distinguished
into that which is continuous or say
uninterrupted and that which is discreet or
say interrupted or uncontinued: as Surgeons
in speaking of a wound talk to us of solutions of
continuity of form every distinguishable mass of
matter or say substances is in possession for
number after you have gone beyond No 1 there
must be masses of matter more or less distant
from one another more than one of that which
belongs to number the denomination is Arithmetic

Arithmos being in Greek the word employed
to designate numlber 1

5.
Presently will be seen how the
mind arrives at form & quantity
regarding branch, next quantity-
regarding — 1st called Geometry —
2d Arithmetic.

It will presently be seen how by the repeated
application of the mental power or operation of
abstraction
