Instruments of elucidation
following, new
In addition to every thing that (to any considerably
extent) has been done hitherto, the following instruments
of elucidation may be stated as being as yet at present
in a more or less considerable degree, in their application
to posology, now.
1. Indication of the origin
of posological ideas
1. Indication of the origin of the ideas that belong to
posology, of the origins of posological ideas, namely in particular of those that belong to morphoscopic posology
in physical ones. In this is are included in the first place
indication of the sources; in the next place indication of the
probable order in which they have respectively flowed from these same
sources.
2. Application of the
Aplodiagr
Aneudiagramatic &
Aplodiagramatic
Modes of expression
2. Indication of two mutually opposite and contrasted
modes of conveying the instruction: both of them different
from every thing that hath as yet been in common use
The One consists in enuntiation statement and demonstration without
the in verbal discourse alone without the aid of diagrams, Call
it the "aneudiagrammatic mode: aneu in Greek meaning without.
The other consists in the statement and demonstration
by diagrams alone without the aid of verbal discourses
5.
Use of the aneudiagrammatic
modes — the
best test of a man's
knowledge of posology
The mode of expression by verbal discourse alone without
the aid of diagrams is of the greater importance, in as
much as the faculty of employing it is the test a sure proof and
the only test sure proof of a mans being really and clearly in
possession of the ideas which belong to that part of the subject
which is question. These ideas to be in so far as applicable to use
must be compleatly general applicable to all figures of the sort
in question applicable to all physical subjects in so far as
those same figures have places in them — not limited, as in the
all existing books of mathematics they are to the individual figure
which the diagram employed exhibits.
