4. Privation of the liberty of partaking of public diversions
attached to a particular place such as Plays
Concert Halls etc.
5. Abridgement of the liberty of enjoying agreeable society
such as that of relations friends acquaintance
Although they should be permitted to come to him
he cannot go to them.
6. Privation of the liberty of putting one's self with
way of opportunities of pleasure that may
accidentally start up.
7. Liberty of taking journies that may occasionally
become requisite for the purpose of preserving
health - as for sea bathing - drinking mineral
waters etc.
8. In some cases the abridgement, in others the
total privation, of the liberty of carrying on
business for a livelyhood.
9 Liberty of putting one's self in the way of accidental
opportunities of advancing one's fortunes such as
buying bargains persuing customers, placing out
money, gaining friends by good offices making
advantageous matches for one's self one's
children etc.
III. Inconveniences naturally resulting from or in
use to be connected with this mode of Punishment
1. Confinement to disagreeable diet. This want of sufficient
diet for the purpose of nourishment is a distinct
mischief, which will come under another head.
2. Wanting comfortable accommodation for upon course
bedding or straw or matting but the bare
ground.x

3. Wanting light by the exclusion of the natural light
of the sun by day & then not furnishing or not
permitting the introduction of any of the artificial
means of producing it by night.
