Between a Sinecure and an Office executed by
Deputy there isexists indeed a very intimate connection.
there is however a an essential very distinguishable difference.
Every office which is executed by a Deputy, and by athe
Deputy alone without any of its duties being performed
by the Offices person, the principal who bearswears the title of it, is on the part in the part
of that principal a Sinecure

But what may very easily existhave place and what
is supposed to have place in no small numbers of instances
is the case of an office which in the hands of to him who bears the title of it is a sinecure
although he no Deputy. for where there is nothing
to do, there is no sound need of a deputy than a
of principal for the doing of it.
