SineCures
During the Vice Royalty of the Earl of Hardwicke
neither fortune it is true, nor providence manifest gave any such
character to their power or to produce a an actual vacancy, an actual
vacancy in any such that or any other commodious situation, but
in this instance the oversights or caprices of fortune
were in time mature – the deficiencies of fortune were supplied
in so far as they could be supplied by human providences.
Sinecures had been the food in from which from
the time of the its first great founder the family of York
had in its various in more of its branches than one derived the elements of its greatness
derived no small portion of the elements of its greatness,
a natural instinct enabled them it to scent out every whatever thing
that bore the virtue and character of Sinecure.
Though at during the whole time of this auspicious
Vice-reign no vacancy happened in this illustrious
Clerkship Clerk Office, the said Office being full of he said noble
brother of the quondam Vice King, discernment suggested a discerning case made
that a vacancy therein would at some time happen.
Whereupon and thereupon, lest matter should not be found for filling
it, no less than three amiable youths of the greatest promise,
were buttered up together in the of the next
future Clerk viz. the then Lord Royden, and his two Honorable
brothers.
