Sinecures
§. 7. – 3. Sinecures encrease profusion in Court favorites
That this is encrease profusion in general, and
that profusion thus bestowed, are among the fruits of Sinecures,
are two intimately connected propositions
neither of which can stand need of many words to prove
it.
Money which being taken from the people is applied
by the public man under by some power authority it is taken
and by whose power it is disposed of is disposed of
to any purpose other than that of purchasing in
some shape or other, and at some time or other, public
service – real and useful public services, is so bestowed profusely
bestowed – is bestowed in such manner as not to be
productive or so much as to tend to be productive of
any effects, which can with propriety be termed good
relation being had to the public service.
