Sinecures

While this page is writing Mr Spencer Percival is prime Minister, the present is a time of war. The
elder brother of this Minister has during the continuance of
this war, the Lord Arden the elder brother of this Minister is in the receipt
of which now it being a time of war produce three Sinecures of which taken together the emolument producing together upwards of
£38,200 a year subject it is said certain understand to deductions, but
to deductions the particulars of which remain constantly
undisclosed but of which the emolument was having fallen short
of the £200 in time of peace would probably fall down to
some such amount should th it be the destiny of
the country ever again to witness any such time day
as a time of peace.

At present it is only the brother of the Minister
who is in the receipt of this annuity of £38,000
a year defeasible upon the eventual return of the return of peace
calamity of peace. Should this brother of the Minister
die tomorrow, tomorrow would see this same annuity
dependent in like manner upon the continuance
of the blessings of war – tomorrow would see this war annuity
in the hands of the Minister himself.
