Parly Reform

The public Men in general not deceived? how can that
be? when in the House of Commons itself, viz. on
the occasion of the first Act that in and
in the eyes of the people proved to characterize the Grenville Administration, a
number of the Members Honourable Gentlemen and those among the
most knowing and most efficient either were either deceived by it
or were themselves, as far as depended upon themselves
deceivers. The First Lordship of the Treasury and
the Auditorship of the Exchequer are said they incompatible offices.
Why? How so? Because the one of them is acts as judge over the
other. Acts as Judge over the other? Yes, if he acts
at all. But the fact truth is that he will not have to act
at all: incompatibility therefore there is none: the pretended objection of incompatibility therefore is not true, has no existence
and to nobody is the falshood of it better known than
to yourselves, who the whose endeavours are thus used
to pass it off for true.

Insincerity therefore – and that all pervading and
all prevalent is among the faults of it of the sinecure system: insincerity
either on the part of those who whose lot it is to side with, or on the
part of those whose lot it is to oppose the Sinecurist.
He who for the purpose of the day moment of asserts denies that
the Sinecurist Officer has nothing to do for his office
no duty is done for the office when he knows knowing that duty is not done
what should he besides him from asserting for the like
purpose and with equal composure that duty is
done knowing that assertion not to be true? no duty for it is done?
