Clerk of the Docquets Accordingly In this way the English of
Clerk of the Hanaper is £2,070; of Chaff Office £795:
of Sixpenny-Writ Office, £700 to £750.

So again in the first place by this being placed
in the Kings Bench in the King's Bench, and then in the next place in company with the
several sums, by of £551, £1,861, and £4,986, which the most interesting part of their
respective imposts meaning, the several darkness which by which the
cabalistical expressions Clerk of the Docquets, Carlos
Brevium, and Filazer, Exigenter and Clerk of
the Outlawries are environed becomes receives that
faint degree of light of which they are susceptible.

Standing by themselves, Essoins would convey
no idea at all, Clerk of the Exc Treasury and
Treasury-keepers a false one. King's
Silver another false one. But when no sooner does the reader
understand that the Court of Common Pleas is the
place in which that learned person and those things are
to be found, he then knows in some sort whereabouts
he is. Add the sums and then he learns
that Essoins are a paltry set of things which by which
of so little worth as to afford to learned merit no
higher reward that the pitiful sum of £193: that
the Treasury which to its Keeper yields no more
than £102 is not the Treasury which has so many
Lords sitting in it, and which is the one he would
otherwise have had in view: and that of King's Silver
the true English is £604 to the Clerk learned person
whose relation to that splendid substance is so ingeniously
connected.
