Sinecures
What is possible is that what suits best with his
convenience – is to cause his emolument to be believed taken
to be greater than it is: – what is much more apt naturalv
is, be he wise is that the more convenient course result is
that it should be believed taken to be not to be not so great as it is.
In this case such part amount of it as it suits his convenience
to see ascribed to him he gives in. So far so good:
but this amount , is it the whole of which or no more
than a part of what he receives? Here Thiu we see a
question which to which were the application made to
him immediate, might be put to him: but which that
application not being immediate, is not put to him.
