Sinecures
As yet Hitherto is the double insertions which till now there has been
occasion to bring to view perplexity of a sort and degree
of which a sample which has also been in some measure brought to view
has been among the number of the results. Of that
which follows it will be seen that it is, attended with
no such unpleasant consequences accompaniments (it will be seen) attend on it. Repeated
in exactly the same terms and in two successive lines with
no more than one between them, it the same assemblage
of words and figures presents in Articles articles 39 and 41
another Honourable person, the Honourable Abraham
Creighton as serving the country in the disastrous melancholy capacity in the character of Register of Registrar of
Forfeitures in the character of Register of Forfeitures:
for his service in what office, of which nothing better
can be wished than that it should be upon examination
it should prove to be a the most perfect sinecure, the country is
at any rate doomed to forfeit £3 £300 a year every year to the Honourable
Gentleman a sum of £300.
Be this as it may, if at the observation of the
little diversities just last above noticed any such degree of emotion
surprize should be produced as that of surprize, there will it
is supposed, after the observation of this identity
be little room for it.
