The other instance of a longer period greater length of time substituted to
the single year professed to be given by the word annual
is the case of the Kings Proctor in the Admiralty Court.
No 81. England: art. 175
Sum entered in Column 3 under the head of Total annual gross amount, £37,532, words of the entry in Column 2, King's
Proctor, in 3 a/2 years.
Here was matter for reflection indeed, viz. on
the grounds stated in Part I. of this work, matter assuredly for reflection
assuredly, perhaps for investigation: and the greater
the demand for reflection and investigation, the less the need of
misrepresentation.
The third article Next but two to this article stands
that which exhibits one of Lord Arden's three sinecures
viz. the Registrarship which subject to deductions
as per Column 2, is in the Column of sums set down
at £33,478. Who On glancing over the column
of sums who would not imagine that this of £33,478
was less than the other of £37,532? But that which
is here set down at £37,532 is the emolument for
3 1/2 years: whereas by viz for viz. upon an average for
one year, £10,731, and no more.
