II. The other engagement Another assurance stated as being conveyed by
the word annual is that of the recurrence past or future
probable of the receipt or expenditure to which it is applied.
But of this assurance the infringements refractions are would
upon an attentive examination be found more in
number than would by any practical practically useful information
deducible from their pay for the labours which such a
of conformity pursued would require .
One example ocurrs as early as article 10, No 91
England, Art Article 9, is "Alienation Office, £1,639. Next
to it stand Article 10 Dr.. to the Clerk of Hanaper, £2.000.
This of itself seems dark enough. But if there any person
if any such there be whose curiosity or public spirit has
carried him through the 298 pages by which the page in
question is preceded will have found in No 69 pp.274,
275, some light shed upon this darkness an explanation of this mystery 275, something a light light.
After an account given of Under the title head
Alienation Office, 20th July 1807, after an account given
of it under in eleven Columns of eight
Sinecure Offices and one efficient Office, comes a
concluding line in these words – "There has also been paid
"to Henry Ed. Church Esq. Clerk of the Hanaper, by Writ
"of Privy Seal, bearing date the 31st day of 1760, for
"one year ended as above £2,000. Signed "John Steel
"Deputy Receiver.
