Sinecures
The geographical limits England and Scotland Great Britain bounds of the larger Island had served bounded as
bounds to the enquiries of the Committee of 1797-8:
The last of the two had, in 1800, added subjected Ireland
to the domain authority dominion of the Committee of 1807-8.
Co-extensive then with the Island of Great Britain
was the ground on which they found not only the a
foundation land, but an edifice already erected to
their hands: and in this edifice they found a model
more or less proper or improper, for the new additional work which they were
entered upon to erect on Irish ground.
This edifice foundation former work they stood bound to
take for their foundation ground and to copy in every particular point, such
alone excepted, if any such were should be to be found in
which either the prior work was superfluous or in any
point some specific advantage gained by the reconstruction
of it upon a plan more or less different.
This model may in like manner being were enabled, stood bound
to work from an Irish ground, saving due exceptions
correspondent to those just stated.
With what degree of strictness punctuality those obligations
were conformed to fulfilled will be seen as we advance.
Had those obligations been complied with in any
tolerable degree complied with, the time bestowed upon
the following pages would have found a different employment.
