Sinecures

The sep article which follow immediately after
intervening between one article and the next of those which
have in a line with them a set of figures under in he
Column marked No of Papers – for of these articles all of them, (did I say?)
the infor authority is to be found in the first of such the
two papers there referred to. Alas! this conjecture
were but a aught at in the moment of perplexity
and distress. In some instances it may pre might
I still suppose and hope be found conformable to the truth.
But others there are (who can say in what number?)
in which assuredly no support would be to be found for
it.

Take for example Appendix No 79 Ireland No 2
Article Comptroller of Dublin Port No Under In the Column
headed by the words No of Paper, figures standing in a
line with this article are 767. But next after it come
articles, 10 in number those which, the first excepted
nothing could be soever more unlikely than that they should
have been included in the same paper in a list of
papers thus numerous, and of which this No is not
the last. A Constable of a Castle, a Keeper of a
Chapel, a Secretary to the Post Office, a Clerk of the Peace
for a pair of Counties &c of Offices thus disparate can it
be conceived that the information sent in should have
come from the same office, and received its authentication
from the same signature?

Well and the next No where at last it comes: – what
is it? – why, it is the same No of the self same No, repeated.
