As in the case of income in any other form shape, the
interest which a man who is not yet in possession
of it, may yet have in it, is susceptible of a
variety of modifications: modifications the number of
which has scarce any natural limit, but which has
found its practical actual limit in the existing order of things.

The principal if not all the modifications actually exemplified will
be found it is believed included in under the following denominations
viz.

1. An immediate reversion for life. 2. The reversion of an office: i.e. that chance of coming
into possession the possession of it, which belongs to a man in whose favour a grant of
the office has by competent authority been made, to
authorizing him to take enter upon possession of it and enjoy it
in the event of his being alive, alive at the time of
the next vacancy that were by death or resignation removal
many have been produced in the office, to take possession
of it and enjoy it during his life own life. The vacancy happening
within the period so described, the expectancy expectancy ceases and
possession takes its place.

2. In some instances instead of during the life of the grantee
the term employed in the grant not during his good behavious
or others that are equivalent: good behaviour
being always presumed unless the contrary be proved,

and the contrary not being to be proved but upon a legal prosecution
which scarce ever takes place and still
seldom produces the effect it aims at the difference between
life and good behaviour can scarce be said considered to have
any real existence to amount to any thing more than a difference in words.
