Sinecures

In the state of things in question – in the existing state
of influence – every office that exists may be considered
as a sort of sinecure in embryo: and office of in regard to which
upon observation taken, a discovery has been or is on a way to be made that
so many may be cut off from the emolument, or time
from the duty that stands attached to it, a sinecure
in the egg, that a sinecure an office from which
such a portion of its emolument has actually been
separated as has been found sufficient to engage a drudge
under the name of deputy to discharge the duties of it
a sinecure upon the wing or a sinecure in full feather.
