2. After this comes The next and only other charge
is conceived presented in these terms. It has also

Now to be sure Thus much must be admitted, that if there be any

in form and appearance by another in trust for him as to the emolument, could not or
would not have procured another to hold a pension
for him on the same terms, every such instance may
be placed to the account of evil. But what is it that
makes the difficulty? Only this, the same circumstances that have just been mentioned above viz. that in the case of
a pension what is pai two circumstances are known viz. its being an allowance for which nothing is
done is known, and also moreover the amount of the allowance
and two considerations circumstances from which it might naturally
happen that no man would to be found who would choose
to be appear the possessor of so much income without possessing
